Lennie and George have a dream of buying a few acres and "livin' off the fat of the land". Lennie wanted to tend to the rabbits. He has a fixation with fuzzy animals, but does not know how to be gentle with them.
George- Brains but not braun. Lennie's caretaker.
Candy- Sweet- old guy. Loves his dirty, useless, smelly dog. Not very helpful, but does enough to keep around.
Slim- Tall and skinny. The best skinner on the whole ranch. Doesn't say a lot but is respected by all of the workers.
Curly- The boss's son. Curly hair. Mean to workers.
Crooks- Black slave who lives in the barn. Not open to new friends. A great horseshoe player.

Carlson- Second in command on the farm. The character who shoots Candy's dog to put it out of pain.
The Boss- Not an important character. Only around when Lennie and George first get to the farm. Others in the story say that he is a good, fair boss.
Aunt Clara- Not actually in the story, just talked about. Lennie's aunt. Used to give him mice and furs. Took care of him. Passed that responsibility to George once she passed away.
Whit- Another worker. One who read the magazine article with a past employee's letter in it.
